In line with the 7th Principle of Cooperation – “Concern for Community,” Sumul Dairy undertakes large-scale tree plantation activities every year as part of its responsibility towards society and the environment. Under this initiative, the Union supplies free saplings and fruit-bearing plants to Dairy Cooperative Societies in coordination with GCMMF (Anand Federation) and Forest Department nurseries.
This programme is driven by the dual objective of environmental conservation and supplementary income generation for milk producers, while strengthening ecological balance in rural areas.
During the 2024–25 reporting year, with the active participation of 1,020 Milk Cooperative Societies, Sumul Dairy successfully supplied and planted a total of 10.95 lakh saplings.
The plantation drive covered villages across Surat and Tapi districts, involving milk producers, DCS committee members, and local communities.
In recognition of these sustained efforts, Sumul Dairy achieved 2nd Rank among all GCMMF unions at the federation level for tree plantation performance during 2024–25, which is a matter of pride for the Union and its member societies.
Through this Tree Plantation Programme, Sumul Dairy continues to promote environmental stewardship, cooperative participation, and sustainable rural development. The initiative not only contributes to carbon sequestration and ecological balance but also reinforces the cooperative belief that collective action can create long-lasting benefits for both society and the environment.
