With rising concerns over water scarcity and sustainable resource management, water harvesting has become essential for rural development. Recognizing the need for efficient water conservation, Sumul Dairy has proactively implemented a large-scale Water Harvesting Project across Dairy Cooperative Societies (DCS) in Surat and Tapi districts.
On March 22, 2025, World Water Day, Sumul Dairy proudly inaugurated its Water Harvesting Scheme, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing water availability and promoting sustainable water management in dairy farming. Inspired by the ‘Catch the Rain’ initiative, this scheme encourages water conservation at every level, ensuring maximum rainwater utilization.
Sumul Dairy’s project focuses on rainwater harvesting and borewell recharge systems. For Dairy Cooperative Societies (DCS) with existing borewells, the initiative channels harvested rainwater into borewells, nearby tanks, or wells, ensuring efficient water utilization and long-term sustainability.
In addition to DCS-level installations, Sumul Dairy has successfully implemented 17 rainwater harvesting units across its key facilities:
Sumul Dairy, Surat
7 units
Sumul Dairy, Navi Pardi
5 units
Bajipura Chilling Centre, Bajipura
2 units
Cattle Feed Plant, Bajipura
3 units
By adopting these sustainable water conservation measures, Sumul Dairy is taking a significant step toward water security and rural sustainability. This project ensures the efficient use of natural resources for future generations and supports sustainable dairy farming.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all participating Dairy Cooperative Societies, stakeholders, and partners for their dedication to this vital initiative. Together, we are creating a more resilient, water-secure future.
